El Paso, TX RV Parks
Greetings everyone.......
I/we are heading to El Paso, TX as of Wednesday (12th December)
Planning to arrive sometime Friday/Saturday. Depending on weather, route taken and travel time.
Anyway we will be in thew area for appx 2 months awaiting delivery of
our very first great grand child.... Due mid January.
We are in need of a nice/safe RV park. somewhere near the FT Bliss area.
The Ft Bliss RV Park doesn't take reservations. plus it doesn't have Wi-Fi
or cable....... wi-fi available only in the lounge.
Anyone know of a good RV Park in the area?
Thanks in Advance
GE

We've stayed at two RV parks in El Paso, Mission RV park at IH 10 and 375 and Road Runner RV park on IH 10 between Yarborough and Lomaland. Both were nice, but we really liked Mission best. It's gotten surrounded by development in recent years.

You may find the air defense artillery museum on post at Fort Bliss interesting. I did but I was a Nike Herc missile mechanic for awhile. Best wishes to you, the new to be parents and the baby!

We have stayed at Gaslight Square in Canutillo, TX .... pretty nice. Not sure how it fits with your plans, probably about 30 minutes from Ft. Bliss, on the other side of the Franklin Mountains.

I'm looking forward to returning to FBTX. I was there for 2 1/2 years and lived half of that time on Shadow Mountain above UTEP. I was there from 81-84 and I hope I can remember 10% of it.

Lived in El Paso from 88 to 2010. 22 years. English is not a common language there now. It was a safe major city. Both parks were older. Try to call Roadrunner before going, was being reinivated 2 years ago. Mission is overrun with permanents and not being kept up. No other choices except on Base if your military.
Las Crusas nicer town but 50 miles away.

Any first-hand experience with Anthony/El Paso West KOA? I have that one penciled in for a night or two enroute to Phoenix.

Why hunker down. With 133 RV spots at Fort Bliss there should be some opening every day. Call the morning of travel and see if something is open. If not, find a spot close by for the night or two.
I don't understand why they cannot have a reservation system. Just befuddles me. May of the military camps that did not have reservations have now gone to a reservation system. Also, long term parking of more than 30 days without and "out" time should not be allowed except for extreme cases and available sites.
Good luck and congratulations to the parents and grand parents.

ElPaso is the 7th safest city in the U.S. Just because it's a border city doesn't make it unsafe. It did slip from #5 to #7!
El Paso’s Safest City Ranking Drops
I would recommend trying for Fort Bliss RV if I were you. Much better than the others.

Thx,
We are planning on the Ft Bliss RV Park if it is available... But with all the snowbirds and a 60 day limit on stays I don't think there will be many spots available if any.
133 snowbirds will cover the 6 weeks window of our plans.
RV West RV Park in Anthony, NM is our backup plan as of now... 23 miles north of El Paso..
Thanks to everyone for the input..

As stated earlier English is not the first language and the favorite answer to "when something will be done" is monana (tomorrow). We've stayed at Mission and always felt safe, even tho my wife was in a wheelchair.

Where is the RV facility on post? I remember that Rec Svcs had popups you could get and deals with some of the outfitters in the area for discounts.
