We stayed there, about 4 years ago. I think it was a passport America, and the price was right, and the site was really nice. Had a hard time with the directions to get there, hope they have better directions now, [ due to construction]..

We are working our way north towards the Balloon Festival. We traveled about 80 miles from Las Cruses to Elephant Butte. Lakeside RV Park is beautiful. When we pulled in the pea gravel, which covers the park was raked smooth. We are in the native garden section with large pull through sites. The sites are defined with rocks as the entire park is comprised of pea gravel.

Here is a shot of the campground. back in 2010.

Thanks for the info everyone!! We're headed West in a couple of days and are looking at potential routes and stops along the way, we've never stayed at this park before as we usually stop in Santa Fe, looks like this Park would work. I-70 West and then thru Vegas and into CA is also good, but we know from experience that we need to do a last minute weather/road check before going over the Rockies.
