Not a member but have looked into it for RV use. Yes, need to be a member as I understand.

You need to find a current member to sponcer you to join, All money they make is funded to child charities and run the club. Great club. You will love the drink and food price.

There is a religious aspect to the organization too. They say 'must believe in god' but don't specify which one. I'm pretty sure it's christian though.

Some great locations, and some not so great locations too! But all are friendly, and as mentioned good food and robust happy hours! It's a great organization, and quite often in smaller communities - they make a difference for many.

Shriner's is another good org, and they also have campgrounds.

Best to all,
Smitty

Elks RV's Locations: Elks.org :: RV Facilities

Elk RV Parks and their facilities are open to members and their Guests. Annual dues to be lodge member varies from under $100 to over $200 dependent upon each lodge home. Some are small and others are big with different operating expenses. I know of some Lodges with member waiting lists, some with indoor swimming pools, bowling alleys, beach front, next to golf courses, etc. Lodge location makes a difference.
To be a member, you must be a citizen, believe in GOD and have a member sponsor you.
If you live or winter in the Desert Hot Springs or Palm Springs area and want more information about becoming a member, send me a PM.

A local Elks provides their hall to our band for practices. We are a not for profit band and also provide the lodge with a sizable donation annually, We have been practicing there twice a month for over 20 years. Riverside String Band started in 1926 and we also provide the Lodge with music for there funding raising function and occasionally music for their tree lighting. Every person there is very nice and sociable.

Several of our band members are also members of the Elks. Many Elks Lodges have dinner and entertainment open to the general public.

Both Elks and Moose are membership orginations, You must either be a member or a guest of a member (and in the company of said member) to be there. I can "Sponsor" you to a local Moose lodge, (An hour's drive from where I am parked in two different directions) but not to an Elk.

There are a few other Faternal Lodges as well, you have to be a member or guest to park there or enter except on open house events (IE: the Hibernian lodges often sponsor a St. Patty's Day Dinner/Dance).

Monkey and Doggy, we have one right down the street from my house and it could be interesting for me to join, should I start by stopping by and talking to someone?

If you don't know an Elk, drop in at a Lodge and ask if they have someone to sponsor you. I have a couple of friends who joined that way.

We have stayed at Elk's Lodges and RV Parks thru out the USA. In our travels we have found more Lodge's with RV facilities on the West Coast than any where else. We did stay at a Lodge in NJ and a couple in MI. If you belong to FMCA you can join the Elk's International group, they have current info on Lodge's with RV facilities.
