We are leaving South Florida on May 13 traveling to San Diego via Route 20 accross the country and plan on using Passport America and Elks Lodges(we are new Elks). In addition, we plan on traveling up the coast of California eventually heading up to Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, Rushmore, etc. We have family in Ohio where we may leave our fifth wheel and fly back to Florida for a month or so with hopes to fly back and attend our first National Rally.
With all that being said, I am looking for any feedback on Elks Lodges with RV hookups. We are especially looking at the Elks Lodges in California - I have the travel guides and they give lots of info but I am actually looking for reviews from folks that have actually stayed at them.
One of the lodges we are looking at is Chula Vista or Oceanside when we visit San Diego -- any feedback would be appreciated.
In addition, there are several lodges around LA and San Francisco, any feedback for that area.
Sorry to be so wordy -- thanks in advance.

We stayed at the lodge at Beaumont, CA - good hookups and easy access. We also stayed at Visalia, CA which was wonderful! Again easy access and all necessary hookups. We have stayed at a lot of lodges over the years and have always had pleasant experiences. A few have very limited space for big rigs but many have everything you need.

Twentynine Palms Lodge is also a great place. We have stayed there & Banning-Beaumont several times & always had a good time.

Our favorites in Ca. are Redding, Rancho Cordova, Fresno, Visala, Petulma, Lodi and Santa Clarita. Looking forward to visiting the Lodge just south of SF next fall.

In 2008 we went from San Diego to Wash state and stayed in lots of nice Elks Lodges. If you go to San Francisco, stay at the Fremont Elks lodge and take the BART (3 blocks away) into the city. This Lodge has E/W/S along the large parking lot. Stay on 101N and stop at the Ukiah, CA Elks Lodge. A very nice CG. Also nice the lodge in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho is very nice.

Look for:
Elkdom Travel Guides
P.O. Box 765
Carmichael, CA 95609-0765
There are three books at $11 each or a set (all three) for $28. I purchased my set in 2004 and that is the price I paid then. They may have gone up.

The Elks Lodge at Chula Vista is quite nice. The sites are a little crowded but the outside patios more than make up for it.
The Santa Ana lodge looks like a fort (complete with guard post) but is convenient.
Oceano lodge is almost in the sand, so close to the beach. Crowded in the summer, not so much in winter months.
Napa is very nice and very convenient.
Carmichael is good for the Sacramento area.

There used to be a nice Elks setup at Pismo Beach. Coalinga has some nice sites with FHU.

I recommend the RVing-Elks-Parking Yahoo Group, which is open to Elks Members only. It's not listed in the Yahoo Groups Directories. Here's a link directly to the group page:

Your trip is probably over by now, but here is info for thread readers.
http://www.elks.org/lodges/LocalFaci...cfm?LookFor=RV
I go to this site, then plug the address into google earth to look at the site. I also have a poi file for elks for my NUVI. I can find a Lodge on the fly with about 4 keystrokes on the Garmin. POI available here
http://www.laptopgpsworld.com/2595-p...ther-travelers
Favorite CA locations are:
Chico
Beaumont
Fresno
Eureka
Oceano
Lompoc
Santa Cruz
Atascadero
Vancouver, WA
Bremerton. WA
Salem, OR
Sequim, WA
Some are RV parks, some are areas in the parking lot at the Lodge.
