When we travel, we like to park the coach in a central area then take day trips to see the sites. While in Ellensburg, we plan to visit Grand Coulee Dam, Lake Chelan, wine country, and Leavenworth/Cashiers. We would appreciate your thoughts on other things we might to or places we should eat. Thanks.

Olmstead Place Historical State Park | Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission

Keller Ferry, Ft Spokane, Two Rivers Casino, Yakama, Hanford Nuclear Site, Dry Falls, Banks Lake. Fish hatcheries, Lake Wenatchee.

We have visited Ellensburg several times over the years, the only thing I can say is good luck finding a restaurant that suites you. We have found two that meet our needs: Yellow Church Café, 111 S. Pearl and Sugar Thai, 306 N. Pine St. It's not that there aren't any restaurants, it's just most are run of the mill normal. Believe it or not the Perkins on the far west side of town is pretty decent. Keep in mind Ellensburg is a college town, so lots of fast food establishments.

Those are pretty long day trips. I recommend a loop staying 2 or 3 nights in each area

Outside Ellensburg, you can tour the wind farm. There is a good historic museum in town. Sorry, I don't remember the name. Also consider taking the Ellensburg Canyon drive to Yakima.

For Grand Coulee, we stayed at the pretty city park in Coulee City. As I recall it has electric and water hookup at aboutv $30 per night. Go to the dam during the day, then go back in the evening for the laser show. While there, also visit Dry Falls SP, s short drive from the campground.. It is quite scenic and historic.

For those you listed I would base in Wenatchee, very much closer to where you want to visit and much more central to all. Good camping area also with the Columbia river there. I don't know about Cashiers but I do know Casmere(don't know about spelling) but it is near by also.

DW and I were doing a day trip in that area and stumbled upon a decent place to eat in Soap Lake. The Sportsmen's Club or something like that. Keep in mind it was off season.

We were in chelan & wenatchee around memorial day. We stayed at lake pearrygin state park and were not particularly impressed that time because we could only get reservations for 3 nights with hookups and then we cancelled our reservations for 3 night without hookups.

We left pearrygin and drove to chelan falls and got a nice site at Beebe Bridge park run by chelan county PUD. It is a non-reservations campground so you need to get there early in the week and walk around prospecting for folks getting ready to leave. We arrived there Sunday before noon and we got a fairly nice site. If we had wanted we could have moved the next day to one of several sites on the bank overlooking the river but we stayed put. The sites are mostly large and easy to get in and they are all grassy.

It might be advisable to split your stay between Ellensburg and Beebe Bridge at Chelan falls. That way you can have shorter day trips.
