We stayed there 1-1/2 years ago for 1 night passing through. It was a decent place, mostly a gravel lot with a club house for gatherings. Lesson learned - Don't ride bicycle to Walmart. You will come out of store to find flat tires full of "goat head stickers". There is also a large Moose Lodge CG, North of town if you are a member.

It's just fine for an overnight. All the parks in Deming are on the same gravel with goat head stickers!

We are spending January through March at the Escapees Park in Deming NM as Escapees Members. Any thoughts on the area, temperatures, things to do, snow, elevation, etc.....???

We stayed there three years ago. Nothing special. Flat, open, gravel. OK for overnight. We thought we were going to stay two nights so paid for two nights when we checked in. Early the next day we decided to just keep heading west so we asked for a refund for the second night and it was promptly refused. The place was less than half full.

Deming would not be a place to spend that much time.... for us, anyway. January will definitely be very cold and the rest windy with possible cold. We made the mistake of trying New Mexico during our first full-timer travels. We didn't last long and headed for much warmer Arizona.

I second the moving on to AZ idea. The Deming RV park is on the East side edge of town as you can see on google maps, good for a 1 night stop, although some people looked like they had been there awhile. Check out the Escapee Butterfield RV, Benson, AZ heard from friends there is a lot of activities there.

Our very first night ever sleeping in an RV was in the Walmart parking lot in Deming, NM. We had just bought our Monaco Knight that day and stopped in Deming on our way from Mesa, AZ to our home in Boulder, CO. I had lurked on iRV2 for several years learning all I could before pulling the trigger on buying.
I had read all the good stories and all the horror stories here about Wallydocking. It was late, I was tired and we had had a very long and busy day. When we pulled into the WM parking lot we were met by a rent-a-cop in a white SUV with flashing yellow lights. Uh oh, this can't be good I thought.
The guard motioned for me to follow him so I did as he led me to an area where several other RVs were already parked. When we were parked in a good spot he came to the driver's window and said it was ok to put out slides saying we were clear of the nearest light pole.
We didn't encounter any goat head stickers, aka bull thorns, in the WM asphalt parking lot.
We thought "Wow!," we never expected to be treated so well after reading all the stories about overnighting at Walmarts. We haven't been treated that well since but have never had a bad night at WM out of many as we travel across the country.

It's called Escapees Saguaro (not Butterfield) in Benson. An awesome park. Wonderfully taken care of with many activities and very friendly folks.

X2 on the Escapee Co-op in Bensen AZ. We also have overnighted in Deming but really enjoy the Saquaro Co-op. In fact we just became leaseholders there we liked it so much. If you stop there ask about the first timer special.

Can you join the Escapee’s and take advantage of member rates when you arrive at an Escapees CG like Saguaro? Or, do you need to join through their admin HQ in Texas?
