Hi I'm looking at camping in the Eugene Oregon area and doing a little hiking and sightseeing maybe some swimming. I have a 20 ft tt. I'd have my 3 and 5 year old sons along. Anyone know of a family friendly campground preferably with hookups that would serve as a good home base for a few days? There is a place called blue pool campground that somebody said was pretty. Anyone been there? If so is it accommodating for my trailer? Im kinda new at this so I get a little nervous towing it into the woods.

What works for us is to Google " Eugene rv park reviews."
This way you will get a list of all the rv parks in the area and be able to read reviews about those parks.

Thanks the man. A rv park would be a good home base to see what else is out there. I like a more rustic setting though, just get nervous my rig would be hard to maneuver in some campgrounds.

I noticed another thread you started asking about Airstreams. I hope you ended up with an Airstream, we sure like ours, but regardless of which brand you have I hope your RV experience has been good for you and the children.

Regarding traveling in the backwoods and off the beaten path. Use good judgement and be equipped for emergencies. That means different things to different people but you know who you are and what you're comfortable with.

I'm not aware of a specific problem with going off the beaten path and being unsafe. I'm sure there are (or will be) situations where an RVer experiences a problem in the backwoods but there are lots of people doing similar things - backpackers, fishing, etc. - and it's not common to hear of problems. Use your head, plan ahead just like you're doing here and use common sense.

With a 20' trailer I wouldn't worry about maneuvering within a campground. We utilized forest service campground with our 40' motorhome. You'll have no problems. Just read up on the campground beforehand to make sure it's not meant for tents only.

Eugene has some very nice county parks to use as a base.

We had s kid in school there for several years (PhD program). When visiting always stayed at Premier Resort just north of Eugene.
