Everglades Park, FLA.

We will be in Fla. this coming January, already started planning. We would like to stay in the park, noticed they have two parks with electricity, Flamingo and Midway. Flamingo is almost in another country but is close to the visitors center, has anyone stayed in either park. Would like 50 amp but the weather in Jan/Feb should not be to bad, Federal Campground are usually good and cheap for us old folks. I could not find a review for either campground,

We stayed at Midway and we would never stay there again. There was not a person around at all when we first got there. We debated on leaving right away being we also had not phone service. It was very eerie being out there all my ourselves. The pads are out of level, plus they are very hard to get into being they are all 90 degrees from a narrow road. I was lucky I did not get stuck getting into our spot. Eventually some more campers showed up, but we was still very uncomfortable.

Do not know about the campground at Flamingo but it is 50 miles from Florida City with very little services.

We have stayed at Midway--- it's right off US 41/Tamiami trail. It's usually sparsely populated, no ranger onsite- you pick a site and then you put your payment into the "iron ranger" tube--- bring cash. The sites are roomy and level ( I have to disagree with the prior post about unlevel sites) . The grounds are well maintained. As long as you are there in the winter, the bugs won't be too bad.

Flamingo is around 35 miles from the visitors center that is right before the South entrance booth to the park.
