Exploring the Cold War area Missile Launch Site in Utah

I thought some of the history and military buffs here might be interested in one of the excursions we did on our recent Trip to the Green River Section of the White Sands Missile Range. Please checkout the full picture gallery and report over on our blog
HERE

Checkout our family blog at Off the Path Adventures – Family travel and camping blog for the trip report and photos....

If missile sites flic your Bic, you need to visit the Titan missile site just south of Tucson. Tickets can be bought at the Pima Air Museum or at the site. You'll go down into the site with docents who worked there when the site was active. Inside you'll see the control room, quarters, and the actual titan in the launch silo. Titan Missile Museum: Home

I have seen pictures of it and would love to go. Around Denver there are a few and I think one by Greeley is a state park that gives tours.

Another interesting run is along US-2 in Montana heading west into Shelby. If you look closely, you'll see ACTIVE Minuteman missile sites along the road. There are also active sites along US-2 around Minot, ND. People drive by these every day and never notice. Of course if you try to enter these places you'll end up with your nose in it dirt and a very sharp pointed M-16/AR-15 in the small of your back. Those security forces guys and gals are NOT NICE PEOPLE!! LOL
