"Family style" bathroom availability

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how common or uncommon "family style" restrooms in campgrounds are? My husband is disabled and needs help in the rest room. I am making decisions about the kind of camping vehicle we need and it would help a lot to know if there are very many sites with bathrooms that are family style so I could go in and help out. I know this is a trend, but how likely is it to find? I think I should plan on having our own shower.

Hi. We mostly use state parks across the country and they usually have "handicapped" shower stalls. I've not seen a family style restroom. If you need to help with the shower in a camper I would definitely go with one that has a split bath, i.e. has a hallway between the shower and a toilet room. You'll have a bit more room to maneuver that way.

I haven't seen any restrooms as family, I have seen individual shower rooms as gender-less. I wonder if you could use a sign, (e.g. yellow wet floor) female caregiver, disabled male inside. If that would be honored. Of course, I'd prefer showering in my own wet floor.

Have only seen them in private parks and they are still pretty rare even there.

I have not seen them at all bug I haven't relly been looking. Probably very rare. There are "handicap" motor homes available that may be a better choice. I think Newmar makes one, not sure who else.

The new design in Virginia State Parks incorporates a feature that would work... in addition to the M/F restrooms they have installed individual shower rooms and the handicap ones all seem to have toilet facilities in them. That affords you the privacy to take care of special needs. Not in all the parks yet, but the ones that are upgrading the old facilities all seem to be using this design.
