Its been too damn hot and humid to be active outside and this leaves me with plenty of time to chew my cud and muse about things I would like to see changed

. During our travels, we enjoy visiting many of the 'federal' campgrounds, COE, NPS, USDA (FS), etc., and, for the most part, they are all managed very well. Why are these camping/recreation areas so 'stove-piped' within separate bureaucracies? Wouldn't it be more cost effective to have all these facilities under one umbrella -- reduced duplication of management, purchasing, etc?
We recently visited the "Land Between The Lakes", USDA/Forest Service managed recreational area and were very impressed with all the recreational opportunities -- well managed campgrounds, staffed by friendly and helpful hosts.
