We stayed at both Letchworth State Park and Sampson State Park in out 40 ft DP with no problems this past summer. Only have electrical hook ups but have convenient dump sites. Letchworth tight in some areas but you can get site dimensions via the reservation site. Sampson more open. We were right on the lake. Needed blocks to level. Hiking and falls at Letchworth. Wineries and nearby bird sanctuary at Sampson. Really enjoyed our stays.

We stayed here also. Good spot.

Try the Montour Falls marina &rv park located a couple of miles south of Watkins Gen. It is owned by the village of Montour Falls.

Again, thanks. I forgot to add to my last post that in addition to Watkins Glen we plan to visit the Glen Curtis Aviation Museum in Hammondsport and also the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome further further east in, of course, Rhinebeck NY. Any information about these other areas appreciated.

Letchworth is beautiful.

Hike Watkins Glen (from the top down is easier). The Glen Curtis Museum is really interesting. There are hundreds of parks with gorges and waterfalls to hike in the area like Treman state park. Do some wine tours (Dr. Franks is one of our favorites). You might also want to check out Corning Glass. We've pretty much done it all as we live in the Finger Lakes.

We stayed at the KOA, Sunset Circle also. The site was 96' long and had 30' of grass between us and the next site. Loved the stamped concrete patios in addition to the furniture & hanging plants. Sunset Circle is at the far east end of the campground and we heard no traffic or train noise at all during our five day stay.

FWIW

A lot of folks are pushing Watkins Glen. Nice place but watch the race schedule and avoid it near any race weekends unless you like being jammed in a crowd.

Letchworth is pretty but not Finger Lakes wine country.

Hammondsport and the Glen Curtis museum is well worth a visit. They also have a boat museum that just started in part of the old Mercury Aircraft plant. I hear a lot of good comments from folks who have been there. The village itself is a good tourist spot as are the wineries. I would park at Keuka Lake State park and drive down. Circling Keuka is a nice days drive.

The area is really big enough to make it worth moving a couple of times. There is a lot to see spread out over a fairly large area with lakes in the way of travel. That makes moving from between lake to between lake spots worth doing. I'd hit Corning coming in, Keuka, Sampson, Ithaca or Watkins Glen as a loop with a couple of nights each place if I had the time. That would give you the most bang for your time. Add more as time allows. If you look at private campground toss out their names here and get a comment. Some are good and some are trash.

We go to the finger lakes area every fall. Lately we like Keuka Lake State Park. The sites in Keuka are large and level. The electric sites have 50 amp. It's a beautiful area with a bizillion wineries! Click image for larger version

We have stayed in both Esperanza and Twin Fawns loops. Around half of those have electric. The website shows 30 amps but I don't remember needing to use an adapter on my 50 amp cord. The Deer Run loop doesn't have electric.
