Kathy & I stayed at Boyd's in August. The daytime temperatures were below what they were in New York State where we live, but my-o-my, the evenings and nights rarely went below 85 degrees and humid. We found the trip extremely enjoyable, both the travel though the Keys and Key West itself. The casual ambiance that you find there is wonderful and no matter what time of year you will enjoy yourselves. Oh, Boyd's was nearly empty that time of year. We had the facility and the pool pretty much to ourselves. I especially enjoyed being 5 minutes from Duval Street.

No matter where you stay allow plenty of time for driving your tow vehicle from the RV park to Key West. Traffic can be very heavy and slow!! We visited in June and even though off season it was slow driving but well worth the time.

I believe Long Key is closed for paving right now. They started in July and so far I can see nothing done from US1. There do seem to be some campers there but it is a mystery how you can get in.

Thanks for all the great feedback and suggestions. We have decided to shoot for early December and try to find a park as close to Key West as possible, since this will be our first time. On repeat trips, we may explore some of the parks that are further out. Just want to get our fill of Key West since this will be our first go at it. Thanks again.

Try Geiger Key Marina, MM10 ask for a water front with tiki. Been coming here for 5 years and haven't met a person that I didn't like, the folks that stay here are great.

We stayed at Boyds last year and had a great time.It was close enough to Key West to take the bikes or you could just hop on the bus that picked you up right at the camp entrance.

If you're planning to come down Dec 2012 try to make your reservations now. The high season starts in November and runs through April, although this year at the military park in Key West it has been "reported" that folks are moving out earlier this year for some reason. I believe all the other posters have mentioned every CG in the Keys. If money is no object, Blue Water Key is, I think, the most expensive at about $150/night. We rode over there once and it is beeeaaauuutiful, but too high priced for our budget.
