Never camped there but have frequented the onsite restaurant. Very "rustic" campground located on the shores of the river. Campground & restaurant have changed owners several times since 2006 & this has been reflected in the restaurant -- sometimes good, other times not so good. Campground needs some updating as the local FL climate is hard on outdoor facilities. Also not surprised they aren't listed in the various campground digests nor online. Unless you've been there [or in the area], Linger Lodge can be a hard place to find -- especially at nite!

Also, it is not as close to the coast as you might think. You might want to think about others in Bradenton, Palmetto and Sarasota. This time of year could be booked up though.

If you want to be close to the water I'd suggest Fort de Soto (state park). It's only 5 mins from the beach plus there's a huge off-leash dog beach there. It's right next to Tampa.

You might want to check out RVParkReviews.com on it, looks like an Escapees park with so so ratings.
