First timer, suggestions within 8 hour drive of North Jersey
So I will be renting a trailer (22ft) and camping for the first time. I would like to take the kids away for vacation but am uncertain where would be a good location. Looking for suggestions.
My first choice was OBX but I am not sure the prices are within my budget. The trailer rental is about $500 and most sites are $125 per night down there.
Also I thought about making it a two destination trip so I am open to that.
Any other suggestions for a total newbie?

Check out Friendship Village in Bedford, PA We Bought our coach in Manassas, VA, and were driving it back to Ohio, we stopped for a couple of days in Friendship Village. It is the most family oriented park I've ever seen. Lots of activities, beautiful scenery, and reasonably priced. Go to their website and take a look: https://www.friendshipvillagecampground.com/

Why so far - Look at Cape May - Delaware or Ocean City - closer and loaded with kid friendly things to do. None will be Cheap as you are in Prime Time.
Best of Luck,

Finger Lakes, NY region. Many State parks have power for $40 a night.
Search " Recreation.gov " and " Reserve America " for lots of options.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
We've never rented so can't advise you on that.
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Not sure where in North Jersey you are but might want to try Hickory Run State Park in the Poconos just off Int. 80 near White Haven, Pa. Beautiful State Park with swimming lakes and lots of exploring. Can use it as a base and go east over 80 to Camel Beach or go west to Elysburg and go to Knoebels Amusement Park. Great park with reasonable prices, good food and has campgrounds connected to it(only electric hook ups) and another one down the road with a shuttle to the park with full hook ups. My grandson loves that park.

Cape May County Zoo
The zoo is highly rated and is free! We stayed at a campground south of the zoo. There was a paved trail for riding bicycles to the zoo. Trail was very safe for young children to ride. Campground wasn't exceptional but close to Cape May and distance to the ocean beach.
