FL Pan Handle Trip

We are heading to the Panhandle next week on our maiden voyage and are planning to spend a few days at the FL Caverns SP and then head to the beach... maybe st george, st andrews or st joseph SP.

One question we have is concerning the availability status that the state parks "reserveamerica.com" uses a Walkup Only destination. W : Available for Walk-up visitors (at facility, first-come-first-served)

Does this mean that if you go there without a reservation, you may be able to get a site?

That's the way I read it. BTW, pay attention to the weather! Severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and heavy rain are forecast for that area beginning tomorrow.

The answer to your question is YES. However, get there as early as you can. On weekends, make sure you have an alternate CG to go to, because they may be hard to get into. St geroge is away from everyting, so make sure you have enough bread and etc, but it is a nice park. Bring your bug spray. St Andrews park is real nice, the camping area is okay though. Some sites are tight. St Joe. well I havn't been there in many years. The beach is a 10, the CG was a 1. Low voltage, no wind (behind high dunes) and lots of sand nats. Destin is my favorite state CGs up here, Top Sail and Henderson beach. Both are 10. Henderson beach is right across from walmart, but you would never knw it. Really nice beach and etc. s/Toby

Yes but you better be there when they open if you want one. You may still have to wait until check out time for the previous tennet to vacate. Best to have a reservation if possible in Florida SP's. Check out my pics link for photos of some of those parks.
