FL to UT Recommendations

Hi All,

We have an old Winnebago Adventurer with a Ford 460. We need to get from FL to Salt Lake City and would very much appreciate advice on a route that will minimize the climbing (and descending ) through the Rocky Mountains.

Thanks in advance!

Rick and Jessica

Hi kb1flr,
This is not the most direct route, but it does minimize the mountains.
1. Get to I 10 in Florida
2. I 10 West to Phoenix, AZ
3. I 17 To Flagstaff, AZ
4. I 40 West to Kingman, AZ
5. Route 93 North To Las Vegas, NV
6. I 15 North to Salt Lake City, UT

Hi Gary and Joe,

Thanks a lot for this advice!

If either of you ever need to navigate the goat paths that pass for roads in MA/RI let me know.

Keep in mind that this is November and once you take I-17 up to Flagstaff and beyond you need to monitor the weather. Flagstaff already has had snow. Have a safe trip!

When I have questions on directions, I go to Mapquest.
They give 3 routes to Salt Lake City from Florida. The one that goes northwest out of Kansas City and takes you across southern Montana would be your best route if you want to keep it as flat as possible.
You just have one 6 mile hill climb at Monteagle, TN between FL and KS.
See Mapquest.com
