FL Trip - September through November

Due to family issues our west coast plan for 2015 has been changed to an east coast plan. After we depart the Newmar Kountry Klub International rally in late July we are planning to travel south along the east coast, down to the Keys and then back up the west coast. We are planning to hit the FL state line about September 1st and get to the Pensacola area by the first or second week of November.

That leads to several questions about planning so I hope this thread doesn't get too complicated.

1. Hurricane Season. I know it June through November and who knows what will really happen. If the stuff hits the fan, how good are CGs at voiding reservations without penalty both in advance and in case of evacuation?

2. How far in advance do we need to make reservations at the better places that will take a 43' MH? I suppose locations along the Miami coast line and in the Keys will be the most difficult to secure with "short" notice.

3. Of course, any recommendations are welcome.

4. Any things along the way of tips and tricks specific to navigating FL are welcome.

1) Helps hope our experiences over the past few years hold up and we have a mild season-- just never know. Can't help with reservation cancellation
2) For the Keys, you will probably be OK for most commercial places ( except Blue Water) during that time frame without a need for way in advance reservations. State Parks in the Keys may also be fully booked-- look on Reserve America. One of our favorite places is Curry Hammock and there is no problem with a 43' coach--- we are heading to Blue Water at the end of the week for a week, then 2 weeks at Curry Hammock. You mentioned Miami area-- Larry and Penny Thompson County park is nice and big rig friendly. Near Dania, is Aztec RV resort- a very high end place.
3) If you will list areas that you might be interested in, we'd be better able to make recommendations.
4) If you plan to take any toll roads, pick up a Sun Pass transponder. I think they are $4.99 - it will save you $$'s in tolls. Here is where you can get one.
"Purchasing a SunPass Mini transponder or Portable transponder is easy because they are available at nearly 2,000 retail locations throughout the state. Retailers include Publix Super Markets, CVS Pharmacy stores, Walgreens, Amscot Financial branches and AAA South offices in Florida. They can also be purchased at Navarro Pharmacies and Sedano's Supermarkets in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. Transponders are available at all Turnpike service plazas, Turnpike gas stations and SunPass Service Centers. "

In your time frame, September is the worst month for hurricanes. The places we've stayed had a (credit ) policy. Credit for another time. The west coast is the area we're most familiar with. Cypress Woods, Ft Myers; Upriver, Ft Myers; Blueberry Hill, Sumpter; Williston Crossings, Williston; Quail Run, Wesley Chapel. We've stayed at these, and all very nice and big rig friendly. We will be at Williston Crossings Oct1 thru Apr1, if you stop there.
