May is a great month, good breezes and not totally stifling. The water is flat and calm most days so its excellent for kayaking. Visibility the last few years hasn;t been great due to el nino and the vast amount of algae in the water (it gives it the green color) but it still great for snorkeling. Bahia Honda is a must and if you book far enough in advance (and your rig is small enough) you might be able to stay right there. Otherwise I like the Jolly Roger RV park on Marathon or Bluewater Key @ mile marker 14 on Sugarloaf, both of whom can give you surprisingly reasonable rates, for the keys anyways.

x2 Stayed there just outside of season and the rate was well worth it!

Thanks ----we haven't been there before, normally we stop at Miami Everglades before heading to the keys, this time I wanted to try something different . We are at #31 for a few nights, then down to El Mar on Stock Island for a week, then back to Curry Hammock for 2 weeks.

The Keys are great in April, May & early June. Snowbirds are gone, weather is nice, rates are lower. We've never had a problem finding a site then. Some of the private parks have pushed their low rates to May 15th.
