Well, here we are on our first long camping trip and we are stuck at the campgrounds due to flooding. Apparently the huge amount of rainfall this week set an all time record in the Florida panhandle. It's been a few days now and RV's close to the beach can't leave (and new folks can't come in). We also have no cable and can't drive our cars out either. Experts have finally showed up today but most campers are not happy the water wasn't pumped out sooner. The staff here are great, however, management did not check to see if anybody had any issues/concerns or communicate failure of their equipment to fix the problem. This experience has been a good lesson to be prepared...bring books, have plenty of food, be in good shape for walking to grocery stores, and keep your spirits high!

Look forward to our trip to Yellowstone in August...we will be well prepared next time!

Unfortunately the memories of the " trips from hell" will stick with you longer than the fun ones.

I would be trying to get a partial refund or future ccredit due to Managements lack of action.

I had reservations at Camp Gulf for a beach front spot arriving on Sunday 4/27 and departing on Saturday 5/3. But something came up 2 weeks ago that prevented us from making this trip. I rescheduled the reservations for a future date. What a stroke of luck for me.

Sorry to hear about the flooding bad weather that you are having.

Yes, you are lucky. One of the rigs on the beach had both cars parked at bath house to give them more room and both were completely flooded. One of the cars was a 2014!

I hate to hear that. When I called to cancel the reservations I found out that they do not provide a refund of the total pre payment that was make. But will let you reschedule. What were the beach sites like during all of this.

The sand was blasting the front row pretty bad...hitting the RV and cars. Plus you couldn't use the sewer lines due to all the flooding. However, they did come by and empty sewer for you daily. They got the experts to come in today with two pumps and water is going down. We finally got the car out today and went out to dinner. Next week will be beautiful...so you should probably have a great stay when you come!

No matter where you are or what the emergency, there is only so much emergency equipment to go around & will always go to the highest population areas first.

Yeah come on people give the campground a break! This has been characteriezed by the National Weather Service as a once in 200 year rain event! Tell me what campground or entity could be prepared for that.
