Florida Campgrounds
What are the best campgrounds around Ocala and Daytona for this fall? We have a 28 foot tt. We only have enough time to spend one week in each area.

Take a look at rv park reviews, Reviews of RV Parks and Campgrounds - RV Park Reviews then book as soon as you can. The parks fill up fast for the winter season.

We found a nice place in the ONF called Dan's Hitching Post. We'll be spending this coming winter there. Nice roomy sites and the place is clean. It's a few miles east of Silver Springs and about 8 miles from Ocala. It's off the beaten path which is what we both like.

Ocala Sun RV Resort. We have reserved for a 6 month stay starting in Nov. They just added several new sites in the back. No back door neighbors, yea!

We bypassed this one, another nice place, because they don't allow gazebos for shade or screen rooms - unless they changed their policy since last year. There was little shade and the RVs were closer together than we like. They do allow you to extend your awning.
Some of the places we checked out were clearly more interested in "appearances" than the RVers comfort and enjoyment of their stay. I'm not saying this was one of those places......

I agree... resort owners, hotel/motel workers can enter info relative to where they work and say anything they want about it. Even include pics from somewhere else.

I think you probably mean Ben's Hitching Post. It back a lane on the SS of Rt 40 just east of Newby's Corner (that's where the 2 gas stations are on opposite corners)
When are you going to be here? I'm about 15 miles northeast deeper in the woods.

Salt Springs Florida#
We have a Forest Service campground that is very nice. I purchased my RV from a snowbird who wintered here last season.
I live about a mile from the campground.

Another good option is Cypress Cove in Ponciana. They have good clean 50, 30 and 20 amp service, steady water pressure, sewer, free wifi, free cable, and a phone hook up at each site. The cost is only around $55 per night with the seventh night free. The campground has a motel, executive golf course, two heated pools and a lake with paddleboats, two restaurants/pubs, tennis, hiking, bocce and golf cart rentals.
One little thing, it's clothing optional.

For around Daytona, we enjoyed our stay at the Encore resort in Ormond Beach, right beside Destination Daytona.

Yes, there are a lot of opinions offered, but you can usually read between the lines. I look for the reason for a bad review, usually unless the place is a total snake pit, the reviewer felt they were wronged somehow and dwell upon it without much other useful information. If you read historical reviews, you can often get a trend, as in, is the place going downhill or have improvements made it a better place in the last few years. Sometimes it is just a crap shoot.
