Florida Keys RV Parks?
We are looking to go down to the Florida Keys in 2020, possible mid February but definitely March and April.
We have a 24'MH and will be towing a Beetle convertible down on a tow dolly.
Any suggestions as to places to stay would be appreciated.
Would it be better to stay at a few different spots and move along the Keys or is it easy enough to tour around and back to camp site?
Thanks for your thoughts

Dogman,
We have spent every February in the Keys (Marathon) for the past 8 years and I would offer 2 suggestions:
1) Book Boyd's RV Park in Key West for a week or two and you will be in ground zero for the Keys in terms of night life, bars, restaurants etc.
2) Book somewhere in the middle keys like Jolly Roger RV Park, Marathon and commute to all the other attractions, just over an hour to Key West. Lots of great restaurants, fishing, beaches etc.
In the Keys, be prepared for a different vibe, the best sunsets, the option of the Ocean or the Gulf, smaller sites, higher prices, and great restaurants.
But, it can be very difficult getting reservations in February, easier in March and April.
We booked Feb. 2020 over 6 weeks ago!
Don't wait, start looking now.

Here are some awesome reviews on Florida parks, including some in the Keys. She gives a detailed write-up plus lots of photos of the sites.

Geiger Key RV, Grassy Key RV and El Mar RV if you can get into any of them. If you want Feb or March of 2020 you need to get reservations now. April will be a little easier but not much.

We liked Siesta Key a lot. We stayed there before the hurricane. It is probably as nice or better now.

You may mean Fiesta Key. Siesta Key is near Sarasota.

In reality Boyds RV CG is not on Key West, it is on Stock Island, which is next to the island of Key West. Same island as Leo's CG and El Mar RV resort. There are no commercial RV parks on Key West, only Trumbo RV park and NASKW,(military famcamps) which are on USCG and Navy property.

If you want to spend time in Key West, stay at Boyd's. Cars are not a good way to get around Key West, the best way is on bicycles and second best is by bus. If you have to stay further up the keys, use the parking garage.
Except for the state parks, any campground in the keys is very expensive and you get packed in like sardines. Get over it and enjoy the laid back atmosphere, restaurants at Schooner Wharf and the people watching along Duval Street.

Make your reservations now... if you can. THinks are already pretty much booked up.
That being said, you might want to try a few different spots to get an idea of the keys. In the upper Keys, look around Key Largo. Pennekamp State Park or maybe Key Largo Campground and Marina. Or if you want to spend a few xtra $$'s, Key Palms. In the Middle keys, Bahia Honda, SP, Curry Hammock SP or Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge. Lower Keys, I'd suggest El Mar, Geiger Key and of course, Blue Water Key.
