Florida Panhandle driving/camping along Gulf from Carrabelle to Pensacola
Anyone with recent experience/knowledge of the road and campgrounds along the gulf side of the the Florida panhandle. Would love to drive it. Just don’t know if they’ve recovered from hurricane Dorian, et. al. We could just cruise 10 westbound, but wanted to get the local feel of the Florida panhandle.

We just stayed at Top Sail State park in Seaside Florida last week. It was a great park. Hourly trolley rides to the beach and lots of walking/bike/hiking trails. 1.2 miles to beach from rv sites.
Gulf Camp in Ft Walton is nice. Grayton Beach State park is in the same area. There is also Pensacola Beach RV Resort. Very nice but expensive. Navarre has Santa Rosa RV Resort which looks nice also.
There was no indication of any hurricane damage anywhere along the coast from Pensacola to Panama City.
Just FYI Dorian was on the eastern seaboard of Florida the last hurricane to affect the panhandle was Michael last year. The impact on Panama City beach to Mexico Beach was devastating but they rebuild fast.

We stayed at Santa Rosa and Topsail. Both are nice. I would say Santa Rosa really is a resort.

Carrabelle, Eastpoint, St. Joe, and Panama City are all open. RT 98 is under construction in Destin.

Gulf beach route
I would think about getting off the beach road 98 before Destin on 331, then up to I 10 go west then south to a different destination of your choice. We were on 98 last February and the lanes were narrow, crowded, many traffic lights, etc. A local may know how bad it is now.

Totally agree with the others regarding Topsail. Fantastic campground in an area that is not so touristy. Full hookups and site with lots of shade and reasonable privacy.
You can get great shrimp and seafood at some of the nearby restaurants.
Destin is 10 miles away if you are into that, but the beach at Topsail is pristine and undeveloped.
We love it.
