Florida Sightseeing

We picked up our motor home the first of the year but because of health problems I have only been able to take a two day trip here in Florida. I want to take a 2 or 3 day trip around Florida just for something to do before we head north for the summer. 3 or 4 of those trips would be nice. We live in Orlando so we would want to get away from here. We have not bought a car to tow yet but will soon. Any ideas of places we could sort of just drive by or stop and just to take a look without having to have a car. We didn't really want to be on interstate highways there is not much to see on them. As far north as Georgia would be OK.

Thanks for any ideas.

Hi Jim_ Bob,
Places to visit in Florida, excluding central Florida and without a toad. Consider:
1. The Keys. Go all the way to Key West. It will be expensive, but one can take the trolley or bike or other transport choices to tour around Key West. Ask the CG about public transport when making your reservation.
2. At the other end of the state is St. Augustene. Some CGs have transport to the trolley stop. From there one can tour the city by oneself or on an organized tour. One does not want a car anyway. There is no place to park. Ask the CG about public transport when making your reservation.
3. Crystal River - only Nature Coast Landings CG. If you want a laid back couple of days this place it it. Bring your own food, because there are no restaurants in walking/biking distance. There is a very long and flat trail for walking and biking to the gulf. It is a nice nature trail. All state owned land.

Try north to St Mary's GA or over to Cordel and the NHS / Carter sites, Andersonville NHS. There is a centrally located KOA right there.

COE campground at the Port St. Lucie locks. Only 9 sites but very clean and you camp on the waterway right at the locks. Neat to watch the boats go thru the locks.

You can get a car rental to come pick you up anywhere in Florida.
