Hi doctorrehab,
Welcome to iRV2. Being your neighbor (Wellington) I understand the question. It all depends on how far is too far and how much do you want to spend. Gut feel says anything north of I4 is too far. The same distance south puts you in the Keys. Not knowing what the kids have already seen, consider:
1. Titusville/NASA
2. WDW and area
3. Lego land (central Florida) LEGOLAND Florida - LEGOLAND
4. Directly west to Myakka state park Myakka River State Park - Home
5. South 150 miles gets well into the Keys. There is quite a bit to do in Marathon. There are several CGs to choose from.

This should be a good start. If you want more ideas, post here again.

+1 for NASA, you can spend the whole day there. The 3D movies are terrific. Take the tour as well. Stay at the Jetty Park. It is very interesting to watch the BIG cruise ships come in and depart. There are submarine pens directly across the Chanel from the park. You might get a chance to see a sub come in or depart. Can also see them when there in the pen. Bring field glasses.

Thank you for the ideas. Are there any locals here in Royal Palm and Wellington that get together and do any weekend trips?

Hi doctorrehab,
No, not that I know of. I think there are a few <5 iRV2 members in our area.
