Visiting Vero Beach area in Jan. Need info on campground-like natural setting/wooded and lakes within hour and 1/2 of Vero Beach

Also returning to Venice in March, looking for same type campground to consider as seasonal..we are in 50s and want family type with natural setting.

Looking to purchase condo near Venice also any info really appreciated.

I cannot recommend Ramblers Rest near Venice.

Very narrow access roads, with low hanging branches.

Vero Beach Kamp 877-589-5643
Whispering Palms RV Resort 800-414-0814
Sunshine Travel Park 800-628-7081

For Venice try:

For a natural setting in Venice, look into Venice Campground. It's on the Myakka River, family oriented, rustic( dirt road for about 1/2 mile to get to the campground) We were there earlier this week

Joe, any problems with the tree branches on that 1/2 mile dirt road?

I recall it being a little tight on that road.

We stayed at Venice Campground last spring. Loved it. Caught about 10 panfish from our campsite one afternoon. Got our 38ft+ DP in okay, though have to be a little cautious in some areas, just go slow.

Also, try out Little Manatee River State Park and Lake Manatee State Park, both near Bradenton, close to I-75. They both offer camping. Though you may not get reservations, they always have some sites that are not reservable. If you get there early Sunday am, you're most likely to get a spot that local families have used for the weekend and have to leave to go back to work/school.

Good luck,
Lois

Dirk,
No problems with tress branches. It is a bit tight, but the road widens in a couple areas and everyone is courteous . In going in, a couple of cars pulled over to allow me thru, we we left, a car was coming in and it was convenient for me to pull over while they passed.
