Fort Stockton , Tx. RV parks

Any recommendations for Big Rig RV Parks at or near Fort Stockton , Tx. ?
We are traveling on I-10 from San Antonio toward Phoenix, Az. and would like to stop at about 300 to 350 miles west of San Antonio.

I always stay at Ft. Stockton RV Park. They have a nice little restraunt and the sites are level. The only bad things, no internet and NO TV RECEPTION. But for one night I can live with that.

Several in the area but most all are run down. The best I'm aware of is Hilltop RV, Fort Stockton, Texas or 432-336-6090. Don't expect much if any grass as this area is in the middle of Chihuahuan Desert.

~55 mile and less than an hour West is Balmorhea St PK. Check out the Worlds Largest Swimming Pool 1.75 acres. Built by the CCC in the 30s. They have wifi near the office. It is only a little way off I10

There are atleast 4 right off the interstate: one is a couple miles east of town; two are in town; and the fourth is on a hilltop just west of town. All are on the north side of the interstate. The two in town are pretty "primitive". The two on the outskirts are better but still rough--after all it is desert. A lot of construction crews working in the area so all 4 have more than their share of work campers....

We have the same travel objectives you do. We stayed at the Hilltop RV park in Fort Stockton on our way to San Antonio a few weeks ago. I liked it, my wife did not. There was a lot of wind the night we stayed there and we even brought our bedroom slide in to stop the noise from the slide topper. But, we were just there for an overnight and the price was very good for cash ($27).

It really depends on whether you want a recreational "destination" spot or an overnight stay. This is a good park for the latter.

We have friends in Kerrville and when we head home on I-10 we most often overnight here: Camping in West Texas, Texas It is not a Resort but has all pull through sites and I think full hook ups. It is a Passport America park - no TV, interent, pool, etc. but does have nice walking areas. I think it is in Balmorhea, TX.

We stayed there last December headed to Mesa and we have a 44' HR towing a Dodge 1500 and that puts at 67' long and had no problem at Fort Stockton RV park. Good power and the little restaurant had good food, supper and breakfast. We plan on stopping there again this December.

Fort Stockton RV

Thank you to those of you who replied to my post. We are camped at the Fort Stockton RV Park. The staff are friendly . The site that we are in is large enough for a 40' class A and a towd. The power is L-1 115vac , L-2 is 113 vac. The park is about 1/3 occupied. We would stay here again for a overnight stay. Tonight we will try the restaurant.
