Thanks ironman
I'm at stone mountain CG now, planning in leaving Saturday (3/17) late afternoon. Probably get into FW after midnight. I believe if you come in after midnight they will let you stay there and check-in at 0700, and you can het your passes and move around the properties as normal. Then they will text you when your site is ready. If you find out any different, please let me know.

Do you spend the night in Valdosta? We like to stay at Eagle's nest campground. That gets you to FW just in time to check in. It also breaks up our driving time to two four hour drives.

Wish I had...
Got to FW a little after midnight, they wouldn't let me in the overflow. Mom n kids were still asleep so I took off to do some late night grocery shopping. Returned about 0315 and she printed me a pass and let me in the overflow. Gang never woke up. Checked in at 0700, but have to stay in the lot till site ready. Guess we will head on over to downtown Disney and browse.
Tired... But it's all good!

Went in October last year and arrived at about 1:30am. The guy let me in the lot and we went to sleep, NO HASSLES AT ALL. Got up in about 6 hours and checked in.
Went in December and they said I had to pay for another day of camping and weren't real friendly about it. It was 2am and I wasn't in the mood so I authorized the extra day on my card. Called the manager the next day and he credited my account and apologized.
We're going again this Friday for a week and will probably get there a little early again. But I'm going to get confirmation that I can stay in the lot or I'll just stop somewhere right outside Disney.
The last time we were there wasn't the greatest service on the grounds all around.

Pullin out of FW campground today after a weeks stay. I guess I'm a little disappointed. With all the hoopla about how nice the place is and how "this is the CG that all others aspire to be" guess my expectations were a little high. I've wanted to come for years to see what it's all about. Yes, it's nice, and in my top ten. Maybe I'm just fortunate enough that my travels take me to nice campgrounds. No knock on Disney, everything was fine, no bad experiences.
Just a campground...
Just my opinion

Just curious, what stands out as the thing, or things, that left you disappointed? What would have made it a more pleasurable stay?
We will be staying there for two weeks in April and would like any suggestions you would share. Thanks!

Nothing to complain about. Like I said, just think my expectations were too high. Because of all that i have heard about the place, I was looking for the "WOW" factor and never found it.

Too expensive, too noisy, too busy, hard to navigate due to traffic and tight sites. If you are star struck by being at a Disney property you will love it. If somehow you missed the "Disney is wow" gene then you will realize there are better high class campgrounds.

Call me a Philistine (or something worse), but I can't imagine traveling to the same destination campground for 3 consecutive years, much less for 41 consecutive years.
Thank goodness everyone is different.

WE are heading down in April for 7 nights. We are going to the parks only two days and will be spending plenty of time at the camp ground. This will be our second time there with many more in the future!!

Jeff,
You know we felt the same way, even their budget room's are cheaper than camping in FW. I think we paid $125.00 a day but it was close to the Xmas holiday, but that still doesn't count for bringing your own place to sleep, so actually they would still make money just for renting the cement you park your fiver or trailer on...This was actually the most expensive trip, we ever made and we brought our own fiver, would have been better off flying and renting a budget room for the week. LOL! not sure we will camp in FW again. Wasn't really happy with the changes Disney has made since we were here last. I think people who live closer to Disney probably enjoy it much more than if your dragging a big fiver behind you, it cost us $1000.00 in gas to go their and $1000.00 to go back home, not including camp grounds to stay in.
It might be different if your going to stay their for three or six months.

You are actually going at probably down side of staying at FW price wise.
Their is really no down side that I could see, we enjoyed staying in FW.
The only thing I didn't like is if you are staying in the 900 area, the buses have a longer route so you will most likely have to wait a bit more. Just be sure to go to chip n dales campfire night, we had a blast.
Also be sure if you stay more than seven days, do not buy new gate tickets, go to customer service and get your discount tickets instead of paying $90 bucks a ticket you only pay $8.00. they don't tell you that at the visitors check in. Have Fun

I'm not crazy about campgrounds that cost you three thousand a month, that's ridiculous. I would like to know of some good reasonable camp ground around Sedona Arizona, and in New Mexico and California, Yosemite National Park as well.
