Who could have a bad stay at Fort Wilderness? It's been far too long since our last visit. We have reservations for early December. Just over 9 months, but who's counting.
What loop were you on? Do you have dogs with you?

I agree 100 %. FW is the one of the best CG's that we've ever visited and like most folks, have been to lots of them. Disney World's theme parks are just an added bonus. To escape the snow and ice in February, we stayed for two weeks at FW. Then went to Titusville for a week and Miami for several days. The weather was still nasty at home, so the DW called Disney and back we went to FW for 5 more days. Stayed in the 500 loop both times, which is a dog loop. Easy walk to the dog park and bike ride to the Settlement.
Now, the place is not cheap, especially during peak times. But we paid between $63 and $79 a night plus tax, and when compared to lots of other campgrounds that charge nearly as much for much, much less, FW is not too bad at all, price-wise. We can't wait to go back again and have reservations for 2 weeks in December, just prior to the seasonal rate increase.

Jay and Peggy; We stayed twice this year in the 500 loop.. Last year we were in the 400 loop. The 400 and 500 loops are both premium level sites. The 100, 200 and 300 are preferred sites. All of the above mentioned loops are dog loops, and there are others dog loops. As a point of interest, the preferred loops sell out real fast because the are cheaper than the premium and are big enough for most rigs. The premiums sites are usually longer and have wider paved areas. They both have cable TV. We always try to stay in the 300, 400 or 500 loops, but really, i don't care, just as long we get a camp site at FW.

We just spent a week in the 300 loop. We had a five day park hopper pass as it takes about five days to see all the parks. Cost us about $1,000 for the week but it was worth it.
The cable modem for WiFi is $10 a day and is a bit of a pain.
The problem Disneyworld created for us was that after we left the cleanest place in the world we went to New Orleans. Talk about a contrast in cleanliness!!! The downtown French Quarter is filthy as are the restaurants. They need to clean up their act.

Faye,
Fort Wilderness is a destination it's self. Besides the usual pools and play areas you have a petting zoo, canoeing, horseback riding, disney movies under the stars, after a campfire side sign along with Disney characters. You can jump on a boat or a bus to visit any of the other Disney resorts or Downtown Disney, and all the amenities they offer, and much more. All without ever setting foot in one of the theme parks.
Yes, prices do vary, based on 'season'. Basically, if the kids are in school, the prices are lower. Our favorite times to visit have been November or December (but NOT the week of Thanksgiving or Christmas). December visits are greeted with an unbelievable plethora of holiday decorations throughout the Disney properties. Another favorite of ours is the first two weeks of February. All of these times represent low attendance, great weather and lower resort pricing.
If you've not been, you HAVE to add it to your bucket list. Problem is, one (visit) will not be enough.

we stayed in the 900 loop, plenty of pets around although we didn't bring any. there were no barking or noisy critters around our rv. besides i love dogs having 3 labs of my own, and if one does go to barking we just turn a fan on and keep on kickin back!

Spent a week and half in Feb. As we don't have the kids anymore and the grandkids are too young, we spend the time on the boat and monorail going to a different resort each day for lunch.
Great time and we have been doing this for the past few years
Oh yea, we like the 1200 loop, good excuse to rent the golf cart

We were there in late January of this year and stayed in the 800 loop. We stayed for eight nights and spent five days in the parks. As always we loved it and can't wait to go back next year.

I think that folks have related the best things to do and see while staying at FW. Besides all the obvious, we just love the overall atmosphere of the place. It's like a different world there. Sounds corny, but its true. About making reservations: we could not get any preferred spots for the first two weeks of December when we reserved the premium loop last week. So, the earlier the better for reservations.
