We have stayed at the KOA there a few years ago when we had our first pop-up. I think it was in 1996. Here is a link to their website.

slmartin64, Welcome to the site!
Being from California it might be better if you arrived in Virginia in early May. The temps get up into the 90's real quick and the humidity is in the 80% range as well.
Bring lots of "Off" and look out for the deer.
I lived in Virginia for 13 years and prior to that I lived in California. It was a big shock getting used to the weather.
It is beautiful country and a fantastic place to visit.
You can also do a google search and get a tone of campgrounds for that area.
Another suggestion is make sure you come East on I-40. It is a more pleasant road to drive if towing or driving a RV. Lots of campgrounds available everywhere.
Chet

A little bit north closer to DC is a nice county park that is very cheap and heavily shaded. Sites only have electric but there are several locations on site to get water. Very clean and near the Bay and has some other facilities. Place is called Pohick Bay.
