From PA... what to do in early March?

My DH has to take 5 days vacation prior to March 11th... use it or lose it. We typically take a cruise in Feb or March but this year we were thinking about unwrapping the MH and heading south for a quick trip Sat to the following Sunday. SInce it's only a week we were thinking about going it solo...no toad. Any suggestions?

Hi Kim.

We're from PA also and looking for a break from the snow and cold. We just got the MH out of storage today to get ready for a two week trip to Hilton Head Island, SC. We were thinking about Myrtle Beach but decided to go a bit further south to gain a little more warmth

You can make Myrtle Beach in a day if you don't mind a long driving day. We're going to take two days for Hilton Head.

My recommendation ... don't ever lose any vacation time, just add another two or four days to the 5 days and relax

cheers,
Joopy

At the same time last year (last week of March and couple of days in April) the DW and I headed down to Savannah. Had never been there and wanted to see a real Southern town. ( http://savannahvisit.com/50reasons )

Great trip, just wonderful. Weather was perfect for strolling the shops and streets; the historic district and the people were very friendly. Really loved the trip and would like to get back some day for another visit. From Columbus Ohio, going down I-77 we did about 670 miles one way (if I recall correctly). It was a 10-11 hour trip but we took our time and even spent one night out on the way and on the return. Wasn’t necessary but we wanted to go slow.

Did I say it was a great destination? Good food, interesting sights, pleasant parks (lot of them), movie locations if you are interested in that kind of thing and otherwise history all around you. Most buildings have been restored. Blocks and blocks of historic structures and not many McDonalds or Burger Kings. Like seeing it 150 years ago. If you decide to give it a try I can share some sites we really enjoyed.

We stayed at the Red Gate Campground, ( http://www.redgatecampground.com/ ) comfortable and convenient to downtown historic district.

Roll

PS: If you go and don't do anything else, be sure to ride one of the tour busses around the city. We laughed a lot; the driver was a hoot.

South

Just an FYI...stay away from Daytona Beach as the first week is Daytona Bike week and 500,000 bikers...I enjoy this but many do not..

Hi Roll,

Thank you for the Savannah detail. We're going to try to "toad" there a day or two while staying at Hilton Head Island next week. It's gotta beat the heck out of the 19 degrees we have here tonight!

I'm really, really looking forward to this trip. Today was my last day on the job. Officially retired!

cheers,
Joopy

Thanks eveyone for the tips. We are MH novices and this will be the farthest distance we will travel since purchasing our Class A last fall. We are really itching to go...can't wait for March!

Outstanding Joopy! Wish I could say the same but..... July 31st is my last day and can't wait to get more time behind the wheel of the coach. 7 more months for me...wait.. no! 6 months and 28 days, not that I'm counting.
