FS CGs near Red Lodge, MT?

After a few days in Cody & Buffalo Bill SP, we're thinking of heading to the Red Lodge area for a few more days. I've looked at Parkside and Greenough Campgrounds and they look doable for our rig. We have a Newmar Ventana 3433 & it's about 35' long.

I think we'd fit in a lot of the sites but I was more concerned with the road surface and if we'd have problems bottoming out. Trucks and the various styles of trailers have more clearance than most DPs.

If you've camped at either recently, please advise.

Thanks!

From this Gallitan national forest web site on Parkside, I wouldn't have any problem thinking a DP couldn't stay there. The photo of the park shows the road runs parallel to the highway for a very short distance. Having stayed in many N.F. campgrounds with our 40' DP motorhome, this would be a 'go' for us. It does appear that it could be a very busy campground though so try to get there in the morning when folks are leaving.

Here's another good web site that gives you a picture of each campsite. It looks like the sites are very well done and if you look at the entrance sign picture, the road is as flat as can be.

The other campground, Greenough, is practically next door so I'm sure it's just fine. Try searching for pictures on it, too.

We love national forest campgrounds.

We love Forestry Service Campgrounds & BLM CGs as well!

I'd forgotten about the site with all the pics. Thanks for posting it. I think we'll probably try to get there on a Wednesday morning and hopefully find a walk in. There are reserved sites open for 2 nights but we wanted to stay longer so will take our chances. I think both campgrounds look promising.

Thanks!
