Ft Myers area CG's

Hi everyone, I am a newbie to RVing. Am going to Ft Myers the first two weeks of January and staying for two weeks. This will the first stay longer than 3 days in the MH. Does anyone have any comments on Upriver RV Resort or Raintree RV Resort? Or any in the area that you recommend? Thanks

Upriver is nice, people and lots. Lots are roomy and level. Clean and conveniently located near I-75 so that everywhere is a hop skip and a jump away. Make sure you stop in at the "Horsin Around" restaurant just West of the CG. Excellent sandwiches and reasonably priced.

I used to live there. The Red Coconut on Ft Myers Beach is right on the the beach.
Fun area with great sun sets.

Why limit yourself to Ft. Meyers. Go a bit further south and enjoy. Naples has several campgrounds that are nice. Go 25 miles further South and visit Everglades city. The real Florida. Anther 15 to 20 miles is the Everglades national park. there are 3 campgrounds there. Really old Florida with gators and snakes too. Many people think Florida is the cities. Like Tampa, Orlando, Ft Meyers and Miami. We spend time in Everglades National Park in the winter, spring and fall. ASBOUTLEY NOT in the summer, to HOT. Safe travels.. ed

Thanks Ed, the reason for Ft Myers is we have friends who have a home there and we don't want over a 30 minute drive.

I have stayed at Red Coconut, may be too far from your friends? I love Red Cocunut and prefer to stay across the street from the beach due to sand. Yes I am anal, but it is a great location and several restaurants within walking distance.

We just booked for a week over Christmas at Upriver....my parents were planning on staying a few months there before they bought a place not to far away. They said it was nice and the people were friendly. I guess we'll see.....

Thanks for the recommendation about Upriver RV Resort in Ft Myers. My wife lovesNaples so much Inhave to blind fold her and drag her north. We just discovered Pelican Lakes near Marco Island and intend to be back often but our trips should include a few miles north as well.
Now that it isa bit cooler in October, more of Florida will be tolerable.
