Gallup, NM to Kanab, UT

We will be visiting UT later this year. Staying at Kodachrome Basin SP and a short stay at Zion. I have my route decided to Gallup, where we will overnight.

My questions are; I-40 to Flagstaff or 264 through Tuba City (64 mi closer)?

89 through Page (I have travelled in my truck) or 89A to Kanab ( I have been to Lees Ferry but no further)? Also, is the bypass route on 89 completed yet?

Thanks for your replies.

The bypass 89T south of Page has been open for about 8 months now. Very nice road.

Thanks. It seems like that old stretch of 89 was pretty beat up anyway. I was hauling 2 PWC's on a traler to Lake Powell, and remember thinking that I wouldn't want to haul my 5th wheel over that road. Has anyone travelled on 264 from Gallup through Tuba City. It looks kind of curvy on the map but shows to be 64 mi shorter than going to Flagstaff and up 89. Just wondering if the road condition is decent or not.
