Sandpiper RV Resort is nice. They have concrete roads and sites. It is on Seawall BLVD on the main beach. South of town a few miles is Jamaica Beach RV Park. A friend stays there every spring break and said it was also nice. I always stay at Tiki Tom's RV Park on the Bay just before you cross the bridge on I-45 going into Galveston. I do not know any pros or cons on the State Parks.

Have stayed at the State Park on both the beach and the bay sides of the road. They have a common dump site, so if you are there long you will have to unhook & go dump. The bay side is quiet. The beach side has a short walk to the shore. Have not stayed at Jamaica Beach, but been through there and would have to agree with the comments above. Looks nice.
We were at Sandpiper over Thanksgiving holidays, site #15. Very nice park, a little pricey, but everything on the island is that way. Right on the beach, convenient to sea wall shops as well.
