GAP Pass???

Can someone give me the skinny on the gap pass? I am from Missouri and bought mine in Texas. Now I am in Louisiana and understand they don't honor my card since I am from Missouri? Is there a web site I can find out who honors who?

Are you referring to this America the Beautiful - National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass

If so it is good at all National Parks, COE, National Forests. It is only good in Louisiana if you are a resident of Louisiana or one of the other few states that honor it. I believe they are Arkansas, Delaware and Maryland.

Do you know if the life time pass or senior pass can be bought and used for a adult on disability?

America the Beautiful Pass is free for anyone who is disabled, and it costs $10 if you're 62 or older. Sometimes proving disability can be a pain and it's easier just to pay the $10 if you're old enough. The disabled and senior passes are good for life. I don't know about the disabled pass, but the senior pass also covers everyone else accompanying the pass holder (up to 4 people, I think).

GAP stands for Golden Age Passports. They are not issued anymore, but they are still honored.

A letter from your physician stating permanent disability or your SS letter of disability is all you need to get the disability pass. It is otherwise the same as the over 62, with the exception of being free and it also can sometimes make getting an "accessible" spot easier, if they have such an animal.

Since there not a lot of detail in the post, let me make an assumption!

I am assuming that you tried to use it at a "state" park! Lots of states have a "senior" pass for "just" their residents. The Fed version of the pass is not recognized at state and local parks.

I sold the Golden, aka Gizzer pass at the North Rim, Grand Canyon. We accepted "still valid" receipts from other national parks and fee areas as payment along with cash to make up the difference, if any, for the Golden and/or multi agency annual pass. No refunds were given. I got a ding once for accepting a receipt from a local state park! There were a few Canadians that tried to get in on the deal, but I caught most of them, I think!

State of residences, or state of purchase, is irrelevant! The ID check at some National parks are just to match the name and signature on the card. You would be surprised to see how many people would try to use their fathers's card. One guy even told me he thought it went with his father's car! Yeah, right!

So, get out their and enjoy your parks, I know I do!

The Fed "Senior Pass" is recognized at the Louisiana, Arkansas, Delaware and Maryland state parks if you are a resident of these states. I just used it last month at 3 Louisiana state parks. My rate was half of what others had to pay.

GAP Pass???

Oh, never heard it called a gap pass. Sorry. Best deal in town. The Federal Senior pass gets you free admission to nat parks, monuments, historic sites, etc., plus discounted camping at same, plus some other bennies. Some Fed facilities that are not technically part of the Senior Pass network will also honor it on a discretionary basis, such as some COE parks. I've even heard of a few of the larger State Parks in some areas honoring it, but can't recall where. Where you bought it and where you are now or where you want to use it has no bearing on anything. It's nationwide.
