Several people just returned home to various parts of NC from the Rally. They are reporting problems in their hometowns and I hear Raleigh/Cary are bad in the city.
However, on the interstate (I-40) there were no problems at the Flying J's. One friend in Hillsborough, NC said yesterday stations were either out or cars lined up. Today was back to normal. NC reported today, there is a shortage but it is not critical, try to conserve fuel. A state of emergency has been declared in several states to allow easing of restrictions for the fuel delivery trucks and to prevent price gouging.

Wait. What?

That's not an option @ 7 mpg. Lol. We are coming into the southeast burning fuel like there is no tomorrow.

Called Pilot/Fly J main customer support number today and inquired about diesel supply in North Alabama and Georgia today. I was told they are not having any issues with fuel supplies. So as we use to say at work "trust but verify". So I called local Pilot/ Fly J stops around Atlanta and Huntsville and was give the same information.

Diesel is not a problem. Gas only is in short supply.

Here in Triangle NC there are lines at stations open but many have pumps closed. Traffic was much lighter to and from work. So there is impact. I did see one car on I-40 getting gas from one of those State Farm Road Assistance trucks. Why would some get on a major highway low on gas?

It was reported on the news yesterday, that the pipeline is fixed and things should be back to normal by Friday. We are going to be traveling east on 40 tomorrow and don't anticipate any problems. Several friends have been that route to the coast and had no problems getting gas at the Flying J's.
