Want to head to Gastonia the second week of October. Just looking around at property but would like a steer to a nice campground. Any input or suggestions would be most welcome.

Am not aware of a campground in Gastonia but there are 3 nearby that I know of:

Kings Mountain SC State Park has water/electric and a dump station. It's wooded and the sites and roads are gravel. I have camped there and would again.

Ebenezer County Park in Rock Hill SC is on Lake Wylie. S/W/E and also gravel roads and sites. We have visited this park and planned to spend a few days there but haven't gotten around to it.

Trailer life lists Cross Country Campground in Denver,NC. I've passed by but never been inside the campground. They have lots of permanent campers and TL says the available campsites are only 25' wide...but it is on Lake Norman.

All of these are within an hour's drive of Gastonia.

I hope this helps.

McDowell county park in Charlotte is about 30 min from Gastonia. Water and electric with a dump station. Nice park and close to shopping, etc. http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/Park+and+Rec/Activi...Camping.htm#McDowell

I grew up in Gastonia, and it makes me mad as H... to not have an RV park when I want to go home to see old friends. Good Luck

Thanks all for the response! Still looking for the right spot as it appears there are not a lot of options in that area? Really just want to check out the surrounding area as a possibility for a 'retirement landing spot'.

I have to tell ya that this RV park is pretty decent park, quite and emptys out when school starts. about the only thing you do hear when the park is open is the roller coaster going by and it is pretty far away.
