Glacier National Park?

What campground is recommended for visiting Glacier National Park? We will be coming from either Big Sky, MT or West Yellowstone, MT. Ideally full hookups and we have a 45 ft motorhome.

We are thinking about taking one of the weeks off our Grizzly reservation and actually go on up to Glacier.

We stayed at Glacier Meadows. On HWY 2 South of the park. About 1/2 way between the East and West entrance of the park. Nice park and great people running the park. We were there in June 2013

Big Rigs has a nice ad for Bigfork Motorcoach RV Resort in Bigfork, MT. Reviews has it as a small park, but excellent. Anyone stayed there? I have an email into them about reservations.

We've always stayed in the park itself at Apgar with our 40' MH. We enjoy the more 'primitive' atmosphere and I think we paid about $10/night for our week-long stays.

However, I was curious about the West Glacier KOA and Big Fork Motorcoach. Wow! There's quite a difference.

Comparing the pictures is like day and night. However, the price for F/H/U at KOA begins at $77 and Big Fork's is $65. We're definitely not fans of KOAs but this is amazing.

Keep in mind that Big Fork will be a longer drive to tour Glacier but it does look nice.

Hi DebbieMH,
The KOA in St. Mary get my vote. It is at St Mary, Montana Campground | St. Mary / East Glacier KOA Stay there whenever we go to Glacier. Going there this summer.

We stayed at the Columbia Falls RV Park, in Columbia Falls. About 15 west of the west entrance on Rt 2. Nice place, friendly, and convenient to town if you need anything.

Lynn, I think the North American Rv park on US highway 2 about three miles West of the main entrance is the best deal around. It has a 4.5 rating is reasonable and convenient to Glacier. We looked at the KOA and it's nice, but expensive and we're really not KOA fans. Anyway check it out and see what you think.

We have also stayed in Apgar C.G. with our 36' MH, and consider it one of the worst facilities for a MH that we have experienced.
That said, it is probably considered nice for tent or small (less than 20') RV's. This is a very old C.G. that has not been updated. I am glad there are still some of these C.G.'s still available, however, not recommended for large MH's.

We spent 2 weeks at Glacier Park last summer. We decided on Columbia Falls RV park. It is a gorgeous park all amenities and they let you wash your RV. Owners were happy spending time with us telling us the secret places to see. All utilities including WiFi were very good. We chose it as it is on the edge of town and easy to get to groceries or dinners.

Hi DebbieMH,
40' towing a car.

Call them. You will have to leave a message and they will get back to you. I've seen quite a few 45'ers in that CG. They are on winter hours so it may take a day to get back to you, but they will call back. I just called them to extend my reservation. The web site said no, but they said yea. Guess one can not believe everything one reads on the net.
