Glacier National park, Montana

Need any suggestions for an RV park on the west side of the park. We are coming from Coeur D Alene , Idaho. Thanks in advance. We are not bringing a toad, so the closer the better, if possible.
Thanks!

We're staying at Fish Lake campground, right in the park

Thanks!
North American Rv park about 4 mi West of the park entrance. It's a nice park, not real fancy, but nice.
There's also a KOA a couple of miles West of the park entrance, but it's twice the price. Both are on the South side of hwy.

Also going there from Coeur D Alene. I've never been it that area so I just looked on line and in the Good Sam book. I am going to stay at a place in Columbia Falls, called Columbia Falls RV. Looks to be close to may places and gets high grades. If any one knows if I made a mistake please tell me now.

We have reservations at the West Glacier KOA for late July. The Big Red Bus tour picks up at the campground.

I was going to mention the bus tour. I can't remember the restrictions on driving the "Going to the Sun Road", but you might not be able to drive a 27' Itasca on it. And even if you can it wouldn't be any fun. The pullouts are pretty small. After checking, there's a 21' limit on size.

We stayed at the West Glacier KOA back in 2003 and it was quite nice. That was the year the west side caught fire and we were chased out by the smoke/fire. Great little campground at the time.

When we returned in 2011 we stayed @ North American RV park. It was a nice quiet little park.

We are heading up there next week and opted to stay at the West Glacier KOA again as we have heard they have done many improvements and I thought it was already a nice RV park. I will know more by next week.

Mike.

No mistake there.
That is where we stayed last year on our trip, nice park, good owners.
There is a nice walk out the back of the park along a walking path (along a small, paved road) to get to a really nice river.
We used that a few times.
It is about a half hour drive to the park.

While you're there look up Pole Bridge on the map. It's on the west side up north on gravel roads. The best cinnamon rolls & pastries a person will find. Great little drive.

Absolutely. Pole Bridge is AWESOME!!! Cinammon rolls and turnovers are fantastic. We will be hitting them up next week.

X3 on pole bridge. I am enjoying some of their pastries now! We've been here only 4 days so far and placed our orders right away.

The huckle berries are just arriving and the weather has been great!

If you don't want to take the bus, there is a place between west glacier and hungry horse that rents utv's that you can take into the park. They have both 2 person and 4 person side by sides. It would be a neat way to see the park.

X2 on Columbia Falls RV Park. Good place, we stayed there last Sept.

BUT..... for the OP- visiting Glacier with no car, your problem is getting there! I would opt for the KOA right at the park entrance.
