Going from Maryland to Florida Friday

My son and i suddenly have the opportunity to go on a week long motorhome trip and would like to go somewhere warm and decided to go to Florida. Obviously, florida is pretty much booked up. My question is.....any ideas of where we may be able to stay for a few days without advancedl reservations. We are planning to go as far as sarasota. Thanks

Just returned from a trip to Orlando and found it was still possible to get 2-3 days together there if you check around. I would call at least a week in advance to be sure. With 2 day notice we stayed 3 days just outside Disney. We did get the last site at the time and we paid more than usual. We use the GoodSam and KOA apps as well as Google to locate interesting camp sites. Have a safe trip.

My wife and I would travel full time, but we have to sleep occasionally.

Save some grief. Stop at Brunswick Georgia. Plenty of camping, and many adventures on Jekyl ans Saint Simons Islands

Being from Maryland ourselves, only a week to go to Sarasota and then back to MD. will be a lot of driving. Why not Myrtle Beach?

If I was in your shoes, I'd get on rvparkreviews.com right now and find every CG around Sarasota and start calling.

Don't look now but I live 50 miles from Sarasota and for the next week we are expecting lower that normal temps, low's in the mid 40's, but still has got to be warmer than MD. There are many RV parks/campgrounds on the west coast but I would call ahead now.

Hi motohomo,
Start by calling the CGs in the Keys. Start in Key West and work your way north. Gut feel says by the time you get to Sunshine Key Sunshine Key RV Resort & Marina | Encore RV Resort in Florida Keys at mile marker 39 you will have a place to stay.

If you don't mind inland a bit. Hardee lakes in Hardee County (a county park ) had some spots last week. Real nice hidden gem.if you want the coast between Tampa and Fort Myers good luck I haven't had any.

Motohomo, Please post and let us know how it goes. My husband and I are hoping to head to FL from MA mid March for a week or so. We also have to 'wing it' since we won't really know if we can go until then!
