Agree witht the recommendation for Ft. Clinch State Park. We were there in 2002 and my kids still talk about it.
For what it's worth, Beverly Beach CG is in Flagler Beach which is 35 miles south of St. Augustine. Not a bike ride into town for me.

In St. Augustine, check out North Beach CG. Just out of town, large sites that are seperated from your neighbors by vegetation and has access to both the ocean and the intercostal .

I also agree with Ft. Clinch for Jacksonville , if you can get in there.

+1 for Ft. Clinch. Be aware that the beach campground is closed to redo the bath for undetermined length of time.

We stayed there last April. Reserved a couple of nights to check it out then ended up moving three times to stay longer. Some of the sites marked 30amp on Reserve America are surprise 50amp. A nice surprise.

I just got back today from Camptown (Beverly Beach), it's aq 2-3 mile bike ride to the bakeries (Maggies) or a little further to downtown FLAGLER. Pretty sure most people could bike ride flat Florida 2-3 miles....

Faver Dykes is a good option

Faver Dykes State Park is a really good option near St. Augustine, and it's just off I-95 at Exit 298. If you are into kayaking, Faver Dykes is the place to be.

I also vouch for Anastasia State Park if you want to be on the beach.
