I have been to Ocean Lakes and Myrtle Beach Travel Park. Also drove through Pirateland. All were very nice. I haven't seen Lakewood, but I was told that it was a religious campground. Can anyone provide details about it. Looked nice from the road, but was concerned about religion part. Thanks

No alcohol aloud in the resort.

Totally agree. Great state park, not far from great seafood, best golf in the area, short drive to all the shopping you can stand, and amusements. They do have limited full hookups, but the dump station(s) are good. Just across the road from Brookgreen Gardens which is a nice place to visit.

State Parks don't allow alcohol either but they have no access to inside your RV, nor do they look inside your cup. If you openly drink a beer or act like you've had a few, then expect them to say something.

Sounds to me like most of the campgrounds in Myrtle Beach are ok, it all depends on what you are looking for.

Lakewood is religious in that they have an optional service you can attend on Sunday. I've stayed there 4 times and have never noticed anything I would necessarily make me call it a religious campground. I have never attended the services but still have a good time. Beach is much less crowded at Lakewood compared to Ocean Lakes. Nice sites and everyone is pretty friendly. Good local onsite fish fry and wings food stand. If you want a little more excitement, go to OL and stay up front!

If by "religious" you mean run by a christian family, then yes it is a "religious" campground. Great place to bring the family, but I don't recall them checking my "religious" card at the door!

Hey, thanks for the information. I think I am goin to check it out when I am at Ocean Lakes at the end of the month. I became concerned ..... Sometimes places try to push their religion on you while you stay there. Glad to hear they don't do that.

I would like to see what you think after visiting. Hope you plan to update us when you have seen for yourself. You can literally walk along the beach from OL to Lakewood so it will be easy to compare sites and other stuff. Both places have there advantages. Keep us informed. I am going to Lakewood for the first week of May. Have fun.

We like Ocean Lakes the best! We go 5 to 6 times a year. We were there in January, will be in April, May/June lined up so far. Lakewood is nice also, they don't allow you to bring your own golf cart is the only dis-like. Enjoy your stay!

We are going to Lakewood during Memorial Day and have an ocean front site. This will be our first trip to Myrtle Beach. I will stay posted to see how things go. Please let us know what you think of Lakewood if you stop by there.

Just a word of caution about the ocean front sites. What that really means is that you will be across the street from the dunes that separate the beach from the ocean. If you are thinking there is nothing between your site and the ocean, please be forewarned. Also note that depending where along the beach your are, that rode can become busy with golf cart and camper traffic. Sometimes it can get dusty there too. I find that about 5-6 sites away from the road is best because there is much less traffic on the side streets and still you have walking access to the beach. Btw, we love MB and go each summer. This year we are going in spring and the summer. Staying at Lakewood on both trips.
