Going to the dc zoo via metro

I that's been at least 20 years since I went to the zoo via the metro. I know there are two stops you can take for the zoo...Cleveland park or the Woodley Park zoo stop. I remember one is a walk downhill, one is a walk up hill! I always got it wrong in the past...ended up walking uphill all the time!!! Who remembers which one to use...I want to walk downhill to get to the zoo, then downhill to get back to a station. They are both about equal distance from the zoo entrance.

It's been a few years, but I know I took Woodley Park to the Zoo and I don't recall the hill - so it must have been down hill.

The Woodley Park exit off the red line is an uphill walk to the zoo but fairly gradual. I'm not sure about the other stop and I lived there for 10 years. The Woodley stop is a straight walk and the bus stop is across the street too which is an option. If you use the new metro pass you can use you card for both at a reduced rate. Hope this helps

You want the Cleveland Park stop, then you walk mostly downhill to the Zoo, then down hill to Woodley Park/Adams Morgan.

Lots of good restaurants off Cleveland park as well.
