Now that wife and myself have retired, and spent 2 months traveling to East coast and back it is now getting cold here in Colorado. I promised myself I would not spend another winter shovelling snow and scraping windshields. Now where to go to stay warm without getting too far from grandkids and family??? NO SNOW OR ICE. Will plan to leave after thanksgiving. Thanks, Roger and Karen

Thanks for the ideas, how about something closer to home? Anyone know anything about St George Utah or Mesquete AZ.?

St George, Utah is in the snow belt and gets cold in the winter. Mesquete, AZ????? where's this, never heard of it?

Unless you go to the desert of Arizona, or the Gulf Coast of Texas or near the Gulf Coast along the I-10 corridor all the way east to Florida, you won't get out of the snow or cold weather.

What RV park do you stay at and is it expensive in Lake Havasu City AZ? We were there once to visit family and saw lots of parks, but did not check them out. As I recall some were near the lake. Any info would be helpfull. Thanks Roger and Karen

Mesquite maybe as you are getting closer to Las Vegas but it is still iffy. Ya gotta go South to keep warm.

Casa Grande, Surprise (Phoenix), or Tucson, ARIZONA. Warm, and maybe a two day drive to Colorado, IF....you're foolish enough to decide ya need to return there for a taste of winter!!

Don't take me wrong,....we LOVE Colorado but you're right, there's a reason Colorado isn't a big travel destination in the winter. Neither is Minnesota where we hail from. C'mon down!! You'll like it.

Several things here. Mesquite is on the Nevada side of the NV-Utah border on I-15. Still can get chilly in January. Tucson is about 900 miles +/- from Fort Collins. If you go down I-25 south of Albuqurque take the two lane at Hatch, NM. Its a pretty good road and cuts off some miles. Figure two days drive, maybe three if you're not in a hurry. Deming, NM, is a decent place to try for a winter and it is more reasonable than Tucson (but we like Tucson better).

For the other poster, Colorado is a major winter destination if you like to ski, snowmobile, hunt, etc. Personally, I prefer the warmer activities too so we go south.

Another place you might want to check out is Arizona City, AZ. It's on I-10 about half way between Tucson and Phoenix and has decent facilities (full hook-ups for about $350/mo including electricity a friend of mine said).

We love Colorado (Cedaredge) too but only for about 6 months a year. Rest of the time we head to Yuma (Imperial Dam) or just south of Lake Havasu (about 30 miles) to Big River RV Park across the Colorado River from Parker, AZ. Imperial Dam is about 80 now, drops to 70's for Dec. Jan. Thats when we head to Big River - Feb and March. End of March it is starting to heat up so we go home. April and May in the Colorado high country can still be snowy but not to bad.
