I live 25 miles from Graceland, nice if you stay CLOSE! Just a few blocks in ANY direction not safe after dark. Do not stop to help Anyone after dark, women with baby or granny with car trouble, Just. Sit up, police officers have told me this, Memphis great place to visit, just be careful.

Hi Tom-NC,
Have you ever stayed at Tom Sawyers? Do you really think a CG, on the banks of the Mississippi would have no plan for rising water? There should be no fear in staying at Tom Sawyers CG. In order to build the CG they had to be in lock step with the Army Corp of Engineers. There is an extensive and detailed plan that has worked for many years in place to ensure those at the CG have several days to leave before water would block their escape. If you don't know, try not to "yell flood" and instill fear where there should be none. Call the CG and learn.

Lived in Memphis for many years until 2011. I would NEVER stay near
graceland. It is a very dangerous area regardless of what others have posted. I know the crime and murders in South West Memphis and its not pretty. Check out the crime tracker for Memphis Memphis Daily News - Crime Report Map - A map of reported crimes for Memphis and Shelby County - Updated Daily - Business, Government, Politics, News, Public Records, Public Notices, Crime Report, Neighborhood Report, Marketing Lists, Research

I would considering going a little east of the town to Lakeland, TN as there small RV park there. Not far of a drive maybe 20 minutes or so to graceland.

Just my 2 cents.

We stayed at the Graceland RV Park and never had or heard of problem. One look up and down the street outside the Campground will tell you don't go out there for stroll after dark. It looks to me that Ol' Elvis got a good buy on Graceland. From what I saw, it's been a bad area for a long time.

Stayed at Graceland in April. Was great. No problems, no fears. Nice campground. Good security 24 hours. Visited Beale Street. Felt very insecure there, would rather have been back in Graceland in my RV!
