Grand Canyon end of March/early April

I'm itching for a trip, I have 3-5 days off(M-W). We looked into Williams, reviews were good at the rail road rv park. Any suggestions? It's an hour away from GC.

Hello Joe, if you only have 3-5 days and you are wanting to spend most all of that time at the Grand Canyon, I suggest you stay here Trailer Village RV Park | Grand Canyon RVing | Full Hook-ups , wonderful place to camp, The elk and deer walk all around the park! It was operated by Xanterra Parks and Resorts, but just now looking the info. up for you, it seems as though our Government has taken control of it now, that had ought to smooth things out

X's 2. You can still do day drives out to Williams or Flagstaff. But the advantages of staying in the park are being able to use the shuttle to get around. I also like bing literally within a brisk 10 min walk from the rim.

One of our favorite things to do, is go find a place we like along the rim trail, take our chairs and watch the sunrise as it lights up the canyon. Then go back to the same place, and watch the sunset. Very interesting to see the contrasts between these two. Last time we did this towards the front part of November, we had a 3/4 moon setting at the same time as sol was rising.

A bonus on being in the park, is the caribou walk right into the trailer park where you're staying!!

I will say the train ride from Williams is fun too. So if you are a train buff, you might look into riding out and then back into the park. But it would eat up a good part of a day. With those few days available, I'd focus this trip on being in the park as much as possible.

Have a blast!

Palehorse,

We're looking at trip to the Grand Canyon this summer too and Trailer Villages RV Park looks interesting. However, your "government" comment is confusing. It looks like that RV park is now being run by the Delaware North Corporation - an international conglomerate whose US headquarters is in Buffalo, NY. Where does the government come in?

Dan.

My post was in fact confusing Dan when read, I was joking about the Government
I thought when looking when I saw xanterra now longer was operating it that the NPS took it over????? then I found out , through a search, that it was being operated by someone new........and never/forgot to go back and correct my post.

We have stayed at the GC campground many time over the past 3 years. Good grocery store walking distance, free shuttle every where from the Camp ground, elk walking thru your camp space and the view is indescribable! I encourage you to join the GC members club. They have a member only weekend in which you get "behind the scene" viewing for many of the venues for 3 days - it is so popular now that the weekend sells our in less than 2 weeks.

The RV park appears to within the national park. Xanterra Parks and Resorts used to have the contract for managing the concessionaire services within the national parks, several years ago Delaware North Corporation was the successful bidder for the NP concessionaire services, thus the different names you might see.

Xanterra still operates the majority of the park/parks......I think, they just don't manage the campground this time around....... Trailer Village | Grand Canyon National Park Lodges

If at all possible stay in the park. You will be minutes vs an hour from things you want to see. The GC to me is the most amazing place in the US. A must see.
