Grand Canyon Tours

Can anyone tell me where the best place is to book a day long tour? We want the sunrise plane ride, jeep ground tour and then the rafting down the river departing from the south rim. Thank you......

It sounds like you want to try to do all that in one day ...... plane, jeep and rafting.

Yes, I have seen where it is a 12-13 hour day and you do all 3 things. I was just fishing here to see if anyone has done this and where they booked it.

It sounds like you are talking about a tour package out of Las Vegas. It isn't really possible to do a Grand Canyon river trip AND a jeep tour AND an airplane tour in a single day.

These tour companies do Grand Canyon lite and it's really a shame that people think they are really experiencing the Grand Canyon.

- The plane is definitly doable I might suggest a helicopter) They fly primarily out of the Grand Canyon Airport and Las Vegas.

- The jeep is also a possibility although you're not going to be seeing the Grand Canyon National Park but rather the West Canyon which is a much scaled down experience. These trips run out of Las Vegas.

- As for the river trip. I've been a licensed river guide in Grand Canyon for 23 years and the only one day trips are run by the Hualapai Tribe out of Diamond Creek. These run down river from the point where most real Grand Canyon river trips end. I hear the trips can be fun but mostly because the "guides" do some kinda hairball stuff like running up the rapids (not the safest thing). It is some beautiful country and there is some amazing history to the area (Like Seperation Canyon where members of the first JW Powell expedition left the trip and were never heard from again).

DO NOT waste your $$ on the Skywalk.

We booked that full day excursion in the town just out from Grand Canyon. You meet at the airport early morning to start the day.

You can book it at the tourist info center.

Best of luck. Let us know how you like it. Bring your camera.

Just google what you are asking and Include "reviews" in your search and you can read those and decide. We flew from Vegas and then took a Helicopter ride over the Canyon, they are only allowed to fly over a certain corridor and not below the rim. I didn't think it was worth the money and you basically can see the same views standing at the south rim. Antelope Canyon is included in one of those and the rafting would be much better views and excitement .

We rafted the canyon but we hiked down the Bright Angel Trail (very difficult) to meet the rafts and then it took 8 days to get out of the canyon. A great experience. To raft the whole canyon you would start at Lee's Ferry and that's 16 days. For our trip 1/2 got off at Bright Angel Trail and had to walk up to the rim. We replaced them.

If you do all 3 in one day - plane, jeep, rafting, you will definitely not be doing them in the the main part of the canyon. You'll be doing them mainly from the Indian reservation on the far west end. There's quite a difference from the national park section.

Another vote to skip the Skywalk on the Indian reservation. You can see so much more in the heart of the canyon from the national park's south rim. The Skywalk is over a little alcove of the canyon and is extremely expensive.
