Grand Canyon Village to Tuba City Route?

Garmin's Basecamp in RV mode won't route me from Grand Canyon Village to Tuba City, AZ via AZ-64, recommending instead that I go back thru Williams and Flagstaff.

Is AZ-64 from Grand Canyon Village east to US-89 an OK route for a 40-ft diesel coach pulling a Grand Cherokee?

Thanks for any advice on this.

No problem. Good two lane roads all the way. It will be about a 100 mile shorter route.

We drove from Trailer Village at Grand Canyon South Rim AZ 64, then US 89 to Bitter Springs (past Tuba City) on to Alt 89 to Jacob Lake in our 34 RED pulling a CRV, 64 was no problem.

We, too, have taken our 40' MH east on 64 to 89 north. Just don't pull too close to the east entrance station building - watch the overhang (unless it's been redone). We would highly recommend you take that route vs. going through Flagstaff to 89. It would also be best if you could leave early morning before the park rush of tourists. Have a good trip!

FYI, If you are going to Page, 89 is closed between Bitter Springs and Page, you need to take the bypass 89T. It's a new good two lane road that starts about 25 miles south of Bitter Springs. The new road may not be on all maps and GPS units yet.
