Grand Teton Camping???

Can't beat the scenery there. No pictures can capture what you see in real life. We've been there about 5 times. Try the KOA but again I would call ahead.

We were there a couple of years ago in a 29' MH and had no problem finding a spot to camp... Did make reservations at Fishing Bridge for two nights and its ok if you like camping in a parking lot.... Enjoyed the other CG's in the park so much better (they felt like we were actually close to nature). In all of these, bikes were ok because I rode one myself... (U can't take them on the hiking trails)

We really liked camping at Flagg Ranch (just outside the South gate of Yellowstone) and we liked Colter Bay. Both have full hook-ups. We found a lot to do there - I guess it all depends on your expectations...

We are headed back this July by way of Rocky Mt NP then to Mt. Rushmore on the 4th then Grizzly CG in West Yellowstone... (Have a new 40' MH with a toad and not that many spaces available inside the park for that total length). I was able to reserve two nights at Bay Bridge CG inside the park.

We then go to Flagg Ranch for two nights followed by two more at Colter Bay... Then one night at Gros Ventre CG just north of Jackson, WY... From there, it's two weeks all over Colorado... This will be our sixth trip to the parks so obviously we love them both....

How you could possibly drive that and enjoy the scenery is beyond me. I crossed that in a Holiday Rambler Endeavor gasser towing a Jeep Cherokee. I made it to the top going about 10 miles per hour, I thought it was going to stall. I had traffic backed up for miles.

Coming back down, I used my gears to try and slow myself. My engine was screaming at 4000+ rpm. I thought it was going to come through the floorboards. I was easy on the brakes trying to keep a sane downhill speed but it kept climbing. About half-way down, my brakes went to the floor (and yes, I know proper brake technique). I made it finally by pumping the brakes up. I think the fluid boiled in the calipers.

There are other ways into Jackson Hole without taking your life in your hands (which I feel like I did).

The maximum grade is 10% and is done by trucks and RVs all the time. I am not forcing anyone to do it, but it can be done with proper technique. Do your own research and make your own decisions. We stayed at Flagg Ranch about a year ago. The sites were plenty long but they all had 20 amp hookups. We were getting brownouts with 1 AC running so we left the next morning. They told us they were scheduled to rewire the campground this last winter, so you might want to check first. We ended up staying at Grand Teton RV Campground near Moran Junction. It was basic but acceptable, with a great view of sunset on the Tetons.
